Traffic citation payment?

i got a 360 dollar ticket awhile back, and i got an extension on it, and when the extension was about to be over. i scheduled a court date, but i didn't have to pay anything when i scheduled it.(it was done online). do i just pay the fine at the court when i go if the cop shows up. or was there a mistake and i have to pay right now?
